Minimum 24" clearance beneath floor joists over crawl space to ensure ease of crawl space access, with crawl space sub-grade covered by plastic vapor barrier and 2"-3" of pea gravel. Specific treatment of crawl space sub-grade minimizes potential for moisture transfer from sub-grade to home and provides clean, consistent treatment to sub-grade.
